Aer Lingus
Aer Lingus is the name of the national airline of the Republic of Ireland. With EI IATA code and ICAO code EIN. The airline was established in 1936. Aer Lingus is the spelling of Aer Loingeas which in Irish means "air fleet". The airline is headquartered in Dublin Airport, Dublin, Ireland. Aer Lingus is a former member of the oneworld alliance, which left the airline on March 31, 2007. This is due to changes in business strategy, which began using the model of low cost carriers on flights to European cities and North Africa, to compete with low cost airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet. However, on transatlantic flights, the airline still uses the model full service, divided into 2 classes (Business and Economics). The shareholders of the airline include Ryanair, the airline's biggest competitor, has a 29.4% share. Meanwhile, the remaining 25.4% owned by the Government of Ireland.

The early days of Aer Lingus

It was established on April 15, 1936, its inaugural flight took place on May 27, 1936 with the route Dublin-Bristol, England, using the aircraft De Havilland DH.84 Dragon, named Iolar (eagle). Aer Lingus later bought other planes, the De Havilland DH.86 Express, and the De Havilland DH.89 Dragon RAPIDE, Lockheed 14, and Douglas DC-3. When World War II broke out in 1939, Aer Lingus was forced to cease operations temporarily.

Post-war. Aer Lingus resumed operations with inaugural flight to London on November 9, 1945. Aer Lingus is also introducing its first flight attendant and thecomplexion ( livery) recently ,which is a gray and green . In the early 1950s, the airline is introducing new routes, namely Brussels, Amsterdam, and Rome. This expansion makes the airline to purchase aircraft Vickers Viscount. The airline is also buying the Bristol 170 Freighter cargo plane, who served until 1957.

Transtlantik first flight and jet era

The first transatlantic flight tanggan held on 28 April 1958 with Lockheed Super constellations. The airline entered the jet era with Boeing 720 aircraft used for flights to New York and Boston, which was considered very successful, so the airline decided to equip it with a Boeing 707, who served in the airline until the early 1980s. In the 1960s, the airline also acquired Boeing 737 and BAC One-Eleven.

In 1970, Aer Lingus received 3 Boeing 747 for transatlantic flights, although 1 of them leased to other airlines because it is considered uneconomical. In early 1980, the airline retired Boeing 707 aircraft and BAC One-Eleven. In 1984, Aer Lingus formed a subsidiary, Aer Lingus Commuter assigned to fly over the cities in Ireland and the UK that do not require a jet. The fleet include Short 330, Short 360 (later replaced by the Saab 340). In this 1980s, Aer Lingus also bought a second-generation Boeing 737 (Boeing 737 Classic). In 1994, the airline began using Airbus aircraft for transatlantic flights, with routes Dublin and New York using Airbus A330 aircraft. After that, the airline retired Boeing 747nya. Aer Lingus has also begun using the Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 for short-haul flights. In the decade of 2000s, the airline is experiencing financial problems, especially after the September 11 attacks of 2001, so that Aer Lingus had to reduce routes, fleet, and its employees. This situation has forced the majority stake was sold to a rival airline weight, Ryanair. It also marked the end of the use of Boeing aircraft. where Aer Lingus Boeing 737 aircraft retired in 2005. Now, the airline has a savings program that began running in 2009, mainly by updating its fleet with Airbus A330 and Airbus A350 XWB Enchanced, each of which submitted in 2011 and 2014.
